Cont. Helping Project #3

Milestone 4 Description:
Completed by: Jan. 25, 2011
Reflection on milestone:
Yes, we were successful at meeting this milestone because everyone who was involved participated, and everyone took plenty of tape of the lockers. We don’t need to make any changes to our project.

Post-Project Reflection

Project Name: Tape Removal
Group Members: Francis, Molly, Arun, Cole, Nic, Griselda
Reflection Prompts:
·         Yes, our vision actually happened because the school looks much better now without the tape on the lockers, walls, and windows.
·         Nothing went wrong in this project. But there was not a lot of tape to take off the walls because Francis had started taking tape of the walls a long time ago, so there wasn’t really much left.
·         What went well in our project was that we made the hallways cleaner.
·         Our group worked well together because everyone did a part of the hallway, that helped us become more organized.

Helping Project #3

Project Outline:
What I described as the end of the result of the project I helped with is. There will be way less tape on the walls and windows of our school which is going to help our school look way cleaner and less trashy. It will make the students look at the hallway differently because every time we looked at the lockers when we were passing by they had tape all over them. This project aligns with our mission and goals as a class because it will help the school look cleaner, actually the halls. It will help the janitor in some way so that he won’t be the one taking tape of the lockers.

There are really no obstacles and or challenges that I am anticipating when working on my project other than the fact that we have to get enough tape of the walls in the hallways.

The milestones that we are going to meet are:  Jan. 20, 2011 we are going to start taking tape of the walls.

We will ensure that we reach our project milestones on the dates listed above. The leader, which is Francis, has to remind us that we need to do our job on that day. We don’t really have any obstacles.

We will need about 5 people to help us so that at least two people are in each hallway. What we see their roles being are helpers who are going to show up to help take tape of the walls.

Our plan to hold my group and myself accountable for the success of this project is staying on task and everyone taking like two pounds off tape of the walls.

Leading Project #1

Project Outline:
What I see as the end of the result of my project is that some students are going to help out clean some classrooms at AHS. What will it look like: Well we are going to get as many people to sign up to help us on Jan. 13, 2011 after school. They are going to help a teacher clean their classroom like: clean tables, clean whiteboards, and file papers. We will do what the teachers ask us. This project aligns with our mission and goals as a class because we will be helping some of the teachers at our school clean their classrooms. This is a good cause to do because some of them don’t even have time, and the classrooms are always dirty.
The obstacles/challenges that we might anticipate when working on my project is that not enough people will show up and there won’t be many teachers to help out.
The milestones that we are going to meet include:
During the week of Jan. 10-Jan.13 or a week before ask as many kids in our leadership class or another class if the students would like to help. If a lot of kids sign up, we will ask teachers so that two kids are in each classroom helping. We will make volunteer papers so that students can get volunteer hours and are more willing to help.

I will ensure that we reach my project milestones on the dates listed above because I will tell my group members to stay on task and not get behind. If we do get behind on those milestones then we will have to catch up. How I think we will overcome these foreseen obstacles is I will assign everyone a room to clean and keep everyone updated on what is going to happen.

The materials we will need to successfully carry out my project is: paper towels, cleaning spray, whiteboard cleaner.

Things besides the materials that will help are people.

We will need about 5-15 students who are willing to help us. What I see their roles being are just to help clean up teachers classrooms.

What my plan to hold myself and group accountable for the success of the project is to stay on task and ask everyone that was on our list again, if they are going to come.

Milestones
Completed by: Jan. 13, 2011
Milestone 3 Description:
I was successful at meeting this milestone because we stayed on task and followed everything above. I was good to go and we don’t need to make any changes to my project.

Post-Project Reflection:
Project Name: Scrub Our School.
Group Members: Anna, Cole, and other leadership students.

Reflection Prompts:
*   My vision actually happened because we helped so many teachers and they appreciated it. We also made the classrooms cleaner. I feel great because I actually met my goal.
*    Some things that went wrong in our project was that not many people who signed up to help showed up. I actually did see this problems coming because the students might have forgotten or they had other things to do.
*   What went well in my project was that I helped three teachers. A lot of people did show up, though. I had fun because I was with another person and we had fun together.   Next time I do a project, I would make a paper that would remind the people who signed up to help.
*   What my next terms of becoming a better leader is do something similar to help the school or community. What I would want to do next time is have a school ground clean up or clean the gym or something at our school. I know that the Talent Show is coming up. So maybe I could ask the office and see if I can set up chairs or something at the Gym. What I want to improve about my leadership ability is to get everyone organized and on task.
*   Our group worked well together. I did a good job as a leader because I pointed out good ideas to the group. I did good as a group member because I listened to everyone and didn’t get disappointed when some people said they couldn’t show up because they had stuff to do. I think it went this way because we listened to each other.
*   What my next project is going to be is: arrange chairs in the gym for the talent show, I’m going to ask Elizabeth about that, or have a campus cleanup at my school.

Sorry, didn’t take any pictures, we forgot.

Helping Project #2

Project Outline:
Project leader name: Emily
Project Name: All School Bowling Get Together
Project milestone dates: Dec.6-9: Make posters and advertise

The objective of this project is to get everyone at our school to come to this bowling night so that everyone can socialize and get together.

This project aligns with our mission and goals as a class because it will help the students at our school to know each other better and hang out.

What my role is going to be in this project: make posters and hang them up.

My group and I are going to hold each other accountable for work getting done throughout the project by staying on task.

I don’t see anything being my largest obstacle in my way to success. What I see as being the obstacles of my group are not enough people will go or buy tickets. Our plan for overcoming these obstacles is to get everyone informed.

Milestone 2 Description:
Completed by: Dec. 10, 2010
Reflection on milestone:
We were successful at meeting this milestone because we worked hard to get everything organized and ready to go. What we did was put posters at our school and Emily went to advisory to inform the students about the event. We are good to go and don’t need to make any changes in our project.

Post-Project Reflection:
Project Name: All School Bowling Get Together
Group Members: Emily, leadership students, and me

Reflection Prompts:
·         Our vision did happen because those who went bowling got together and hanged out. It’s a good feeling that the students at our school interact with each other because they get to know each other more.
·         Some of the things that went wrong in our project was that not a lot of people showed up. Yes, we knew that not a lot of people were going to come because they were busy.
·         What went well in this project was that we got money for the school and some kids did go bowling.
·         What we would like to improve on the next project is have some volunteer hours so that the kids are more willing to help. Have some kind of event that includes food. What we will do to ensure that I am more successful next time is make sure that enough people want to come to the event to make it happen because if not a lot of people come it is not worth planning.
·         What my next terms of becoming a better leader are help the community and my school. What I want to work on for next time is have a classroom clean- up or campus clean-up. What I want to improve about my leadership ability is get more organized and learn from other projects so I can get some ideas of what to do next.
·         Our group worked well together. It went well because we were informed and organized.
·         My next project is going to be: classroom clean-up.

Helping Project #1

Team Member Outline:
Project Leader Name: Molly Walsh
Project name: Operation Candy Gram
Project milestone dates: Dec.1-10: Collect candy canes. Dec.13-Winter Break: Sell candy cane grams and deliver last period.

The objective of this project is to sell Christmas grams to the students at our school during lunch. The money that we make goes to charity.

This project aligns with our mission and goals as a class because we are helping the less fortunate ones by donating money to charity.

My role in this project is: To make posters and put them in the halls. Help deliver the candy grams.
My group and I are going to hold each other accountable for work getting done throughout the project by: staying on task, getting informed, working hard to meet the milestones.

I don’t see anything being the largest obstacle in my way to success. What I see as being the obstacle for my group is that there won’t be many people arranging and delivering the candy grams.
The plan to overcome these obstacles is to get as many people as we can to help.

Milestone 1 Description:
Completed by: Dec. 13, 2010
We were successful at meeting these milestone because we worked hard to not get behind. We did everything as we planned. We don’t need to make any changes in our project.

Post-Project Reflection:
Project Name: Operation Candy Gram
Group Members: Molly Walsh, leadership students and me

Reflection Prompts:
·          Our vision did happen because we were able to donate money to charity. This was a good feeling because we know that the money will help others who are less fortunate.

·         Some of the things that went wrong in this project were: there was some candy left over because some of the people that candy was supposed to be deliver to were absent. We did foresee these problems, but we couldn’t do anything about it except send the candy grams to the office and see what they could do.

·         What went well in this project was that we got enough money to send to charity, the delivery went well. What we will do next time to ensure that we are more successful is talk to the office before hand and see if they know where the kids that didn’t receive their candy grams are.

·         What my next terms of becoming a better leader is do something similar to help the school or other people. What I want to work on for next time is to have a classroom clean up or a campus cleanup. What I want to do to improve my leadership ability is to get more organized and think of better projects that will help the community and my school.

·         Our group worked well together. I did good as a group member. It went that way because we were organized and listened to each others ideas.

·         What my next project is going to be: classroom clean-up.

Milestone for Lead Project:

So we can't really do the babysitting thing on the next information night because there are not that many kids to take care of. So, Ana, Cole and I were thinking that we should help various of teachers with various things after school on Jan. 07,2011. We just have to ask those teachers if we can help them. Our milestone is on the week of Jan.3-7 if we don't get it done by Jan. 7. We also have to get some students to help us out because it is a lot of work for just three people.
On my helping project, I am planning to help Molly out with labeling, sorting, and delivering out the candy canes for the Candy Grams sell that she is organizing. I am going to help her during seventh period this week on Thursday.
Then my lead project that I am planning to do is going to take place on the week of Jan.3-7, after school. I am going to ask about 6-7 people to help me out with an AHS campus clean-up or clean a road near the school. I am going to ask the janitor for the materials I need which is going to be on the week we come back from break. I just need a couple of people who are willing to help out.

What's going on so far

Right now I haven't completed any project yet but I am planning to have a cleanup at Aviation High School or a road that is close to the school. I just have to ask the ASB for money to buy the materials I need and ask them if they have the materials I need to complete the project. If the ASB don't have the materials I can just buy them. When I have that planned out then I can start my project. I am also planning on helping Ana and Cole with their project which is going to take place on Information Night at the cafeteria of our school or on January because today we talked to Mrs. Hiranaka and told her about our project. But she isn't the one who takes care of that, Mrs.Stark is the one who does. She was absent today but we might be able to ask her tomorrow and see if we can do the day care project on Information Night or on January when the last Information Night is going to take place. That is all I am planning to do for my Independent Projects so far.
